Like the Nike ad says, Just Do It.
Many people look to upgrade their kitchens when they decide to resell their house.
This makes perfect sense. With all the homes available for sale these days, you need every advantage you can get. Competition for home buyers has never been higher. The buyers know this, and are considering every possible feature and detail in their decision.
One of the key areas they consider is the kitchen. One of the key areas in the kitchen they look at are your cabinets. If they are old, faded and scratched, your home will quickly be off their list. Refacing your cabinets can be the answer.
The results can be pretty dramatic. Not only will the phrase “upgraded kitchen cabinetry” attract the buyers’ attention, surveys show that kitchen upgrades will return between 75% to 90% value on resale, so it is well worth the investment.
But you probably knew most of this already.
An unexpected response from my customers.
The tip I would like to share today is simply this, don’t wait. Do it now. Many people schedule their cabinet refacing when they are ready to sell. They usually get all kinds of upgrades done typically a month or two before their house goes on the market.
Many of my customers have proceeded in this manner. Get the renovations done, and immediately put the house on the market.
Here is an interesting fact. A very large proportion of my customers have told me after the work was completed that they wish they had done it sooner. They are sorry they delayed the work until the last minute and regret not having enjoyed their upgrades for themselves longer.
This doesn’t just happen with cabinet refacing. I have talked about this to other renovation specialists as well, painters, carpet and hardwood floor installers, landscapers and others, and they all say they have had the same reaction from their customers.
They should have had the work done sooner.
Doing it now is a positive for you.
Some may be worried that if they have their cabinet refacing done a year or so out, it won’t look new anymore.
You have nothing to worry about. With the quality of the materials we use, and with some TLC on your part, your cabinets will look just as new and fresh for many years to come. So even if your moving plans are a year or two away, think about doing the work now for a win/win situation.
Enjoy it now, sell it later. Your future buyers will be impressed with your renovations, and you get to enjoy them as well right up to moving day.
